Crafty Kids

This week we thought we would talk a little about crafting with kids and the amazing benefits of making space and time to be creative.

Kids little worlds can get so busy with school, clubs and socialising that when there is nothing on it can often be tempting to flop in front of a screen, and obviously there is nothing wrong with this. Our kids definitely love to relax in front of the TV, in exactly the same way we do at the end of the day.

However, it is amazing how often they will choose to turn the TV off in favour of crafting, especially if it has the added draw of some focused time from mum or dad. They love to test out the crafts we are passionate about and discover why we spend so much time doing this. These can create amazing memories of crafting together, even if it can be hard to resist the temptation to “fix” the “mistakes” they are making in their creation!!

It is amazing to see how calming these moments can be, especially for children who are usually constantly on the move. Crafting regularly can help to build focus and concentration in a fun and engaging way. These are skills that they can then take forward to other areas of their life. Crafts such as needle felting are especially good for this as it is easy to focus for 5 minutes, then put their creation aside for the next time. It also has the added bonus of being very low mess!

Kids have the most amazing imaginations, listening to them play just tells you how much is going on inside their brains. Crafting is pure fuel for their imaginations and can give them another route to show you what is going on and the ideas they have bubbling away. It's fascinating to see what they come up with, and how they can describe in great detail why their dog needs its extra 2 legs and 3 wings, or why their racing car is being driven by a snail.

If your child loves to create and try something new pop over to our COURSES tab to book their place on our Easter holiday Kids’ Needle Felting workshop on 11th April 2022.

Goodbye for now and we will be back next week x
