This week we have been starting to plan our families Christmas gifts, and thought we would share what we have learnt about making the most of shopping with small businesses…
It suddenly feels like Christmas has appeared on the horizon and planning for get togethers and gifts has really started. I don’t know what kind of shopper you normally are, but for years I was a last-minute buyer spending lots on express delivery! Having discovered the joy of shopping small it has become clear that this had to change.
It is definitely possible to shop small and be a last-minute shopper. In fact, small businesses are often very helpful when you explain that you are disorganised, forgot to order until the last minute and could you possibly have your order sent out as a priority. As you are speaking directly to an individual, they will usually give amazing customer service and do everything in their power to help you out.
However, one of the joys of shopping small is that you can often find unique and bespoke gifts, that you can ask to be adapted especially for the recipient. This makes your gift truly personal and shows the thought you have put into it. All of this takes time, so if you would like a gift made to order now is the time to be buying.
This requires additional planning and thinking about Christmas earlier than you may normally. It also means that the run up to Christmas is much more relaxing and you get to smugly watch everyone else run around in a last-minute panic whilst you enjoy a cup of tea and a mince pie. Or you can spend your additional pre-Christmas time at one of our courses, so if you have been inspired to shop early and have more time for Christmas crafting check out our COURSES tab to book your place on one of our workshops in November and December.
Goodbye for now and we will be back next week x
